In the past couple of  years I have been messing around with my family portrait style.  While I started doing family portraits in a studio setting, the last year I have preferred to shoot on location and let the family dynamic evolve in front of the camera for a more natural perspective.  Trying to get kids and adults to sit still and act natural for a photo seems particularly unnatural. However letting kids lead their family on a little adventure during the photo shot or letting adults have their own moment together seems to get more natural results.  We are particularly lucky here in the Vail Valley to have an abundance of amazing locations to choose from that easily lend themselves to natural fun photos.
